The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra sees itself as a musical ambassador for Ukraine – and delights audiences during its regular guest performances at the Berlin Philharmonie with its enthusiasm, passion and exciting programmes.
The overture by Sergei Bortkiewicz, a native of Kharkiv, transports the listener to romantic fairy-tale worlds and sets the mood for two great works of the late Romantic period: Jean Sibelius’s heartfelt, highly virtuosic Violin Concerto and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony ‘From the New World’, his homage to the vast landscapes of America.
- The soloist is Marlene Ito, principal second violin with the Berlin Philharmonic.
- Christian Blex conducts.
