String Quartets by Haydn, Brahms, Shostakovich, and Fujikura
Dai Fujikura composed *Aquarius* in 2020 for the young Japanese ensemble, which is performing at the Pierre Boulez Saal for the third time.
“I wanted to write a piece that develops freely in form and has no discernible sections,” explains the composer. “The sound of a group of string instruments has a special elasticity, and for me, it is the only instrumentation that makes this constant adaptability possible.”
