Anushka Chkheidze & Robert Lippok | múm performs “Sonnenuhr”

The Berlin Pop Culture Festival sees itself as a platform for creative ideas, artistic experimentation, and international encounters—it brings the most important themes, trends, and talents of Berlin, the city of music, to the stage and showcases how pop culture shapes society today and tomorrow. This year, the Pierre Boulez Saal is hosting the event for one evening.

Georgian musician Anushka Chkheidze and German musician Robert Lippok present a program here that deliberately defies clear categorization: Between indietronica references, krautrock-like expanses, and almost sacred ambient spaces, a sound unfolds that is less a result than an ongoing search. At its core is a creative process that follows no external logic.

The second part of the evening features the Icelandic group múm. Melancholic, fragile, and at the same time playful, their music embodies the unique atmosphere of Iceland and offers a sonic landscape that spans experimental electronics, fleeting melodies, and atmospheric spaces.

With Sonnenuhr, founding members Gunnar Tynes and Örvar Smárason present a new, performative work that brings together a string quartet with electronic and acoustic instruments.
