Pahlavan is a dance theatre performance set in a speculative future in which humanity has lost its empathy. Inspired by the rituals and philosophy of the Iranian zoorkhaneh, the work explores the reconstruction of a new human being through physical training, ethical dilemmas and collective imagination.

By combining contemporary dance, storytelling, improvisation and audience participation, Pahlavan transforms an ancient practice into a futuristic laboratory and explores how ethics are learnt, embodied and shared. In an age of increasing polarisation and supposed certainty, the performance invites the audience to embrace doubt – not as a weakness, but as the beginning of taking responsibility for one another.
