The future begins here and now! But what does a possible future look like and what does it feel like? At the Open Lab evening "Futures Prototyping" you will learn in a very practical way how to make images of the future tangible in the form of artefacts - as an independent method or as a supplement to a futures thinking process. You will be supported by methods of speculative design and future research.

In small groups you try out the methods, design creative artefacts and thus make futures tangible for you and others. Each artifact shows us a part of a possible future and reveals needs, desires and challenges that are still unresolved today.
In terms of content, we will deal with the topic of democracy. The idea of democracy is more than 2000 years old. A lot has changed since then. Today, social media and globalization are changing the way we live together. And in the future? In the workshop we would like to pursue the question of which tools we will use in the democracy of the future. Discover with us how democracy can continue!
The event is part of the “Learning to shape futures” workshop series, which takes place once a month as part of the Open Lab evening. In a total of four modules, you will get to know well-founded methods of shaping the future, which you can put together to create your own individual future method kit.

What is an Open Lab evening?

Have you always wondered what design thinking is, how a 3D printer works and how a robot is programmed? And what exactly does all this have to do with the future? Then you've come to the right place in the Futurium Lab! Every Thursday we invite you to get to know methods and tools for shaping the future together with our creators and to develop new ideas for the future in workshops.
