At Tacheles and the Museum Island Forum
In recent years, two imposing buildings from the Imperial era and their surrounding grounds have been redeveloped on Oranienburger Straße: the Telegraph Office and the Tacheles. Learn more about the evolution of the Tacheles—from the most modern shopping arcade in the German Empire (1910) to the prevention of its demolition through the efforts of young artists (1990), and finally to the trendy and controversial residential and commercial district it is today. In the immediate vicinity, a neighborhood surrounding the Telegraph Office has been revitalized, where Berlin’s architectural history—from the Baroque to GDR Modernism—is laid out in a compact space: the Museum Island Forum.
Join us on a tour of this transformed urban neighborhood in Berlin Mitte.
