Special tours of the cemetery in the industrial town of Oberschöneweide

Alongside prominent family names like Rathenau and Deul, the graves tell the stories of well-known and lesser-known figures, of their fates and life journeys in an industrial city.

On a two-hour walking tour, visitors can trace Oberschöneweid’s eventful history, learn more about the fates of the industrial area’s founders, and explore the question of why cemeteries are not only places of rest, but also of nature conservation.

The guided tour of the Walfriedhof will take place in 2026 on the following dates:

  • April 7, 2026, 4:00 p.m. – Special tour marking the founding of the free rural community “Ober-Schöneweide”
  • May 8, 2026, 4:00 p.m. – Special tour marking the end of the war, focusing on the war graves at the Waldfriedhof
  • September 12, 2026, 11:00 a.m. – Special tour as part of Open Monument Day
  • November 14, 2026, 11 a.m. – Special tour on Remembrance Day
