In 1912, Rixdorf became Neukölln. The reason for this renaming was an image problem. Rixdorf was considered a place of entertainment for the lower classes, a stronghold of the left-wing labor movement. However, Neukölln's history goes back much further and paints a picture of a place that has become and continues to be a new home for generations of people of different origins and beliefs.
