By Karl Ove Knausgård

The relentlessly autobiographical work "Min Kamp" in six parts by Norwegian author Karl Ove Knausgård will be the basis of a theatre adaptation by director Yana Ross. She will select fragments from the first two parts "Sterben" (A Death in the Family. My Struggle 1) and "Lieben" (A Man in Love. My Struggle 2) as well as from the final part "Kämpfen" (The End. My Struggle 6).

The internal struggles of the author, son, husband and father end in an analysis of Hitler’s "Mein Kampf", which he finds in his father’s estate. His domineering father’s profoundly distressing and yet liberating death was the impulse for Knausgård’s to write "Sterben" (The End). In "Lieben" (A Man in Love), Knausgård himself is the father of three small children and is pulled into the equally dramatic and banal contradictions inherent in modern fatherhood and a love with equal rights – challenging the concept of patriarchal artistry.

Director YANA ROSS works internationally.  She teaches directing at the Lithuanian Academy for Music and Theatre in Vilnius and has been awarded numerous directing prizes.
