Sinbad: A Musical Journey
In the Western world, the story of Sinbad and his travels is known primarily as a romanticized fairy tale that has little to do with the origins of the mythical figure in the Arabic collection *One Thousand and One Nights*.
Syrian ney virtuoso Moslem Rahal and the instrumentalists and singers of his ensemble, who hail from various countries and regions of the Middle East, portray the sailor as a wanderer between worlds: an emigrant who, in search of a better life, seeks exchange with other civilizations and—like the musicians themselves—unites the most diverse cultural influences within himself.
With their program, they follow in Sinbad’s footsteps on a musical journey through space and time that confronts the audience with universal and deeply human truths.
