Design after the Anthropocene
More than Human is a discursive platform that focuses on the hotly debated theme of “post-humanism and design”. Current socio-technological and ecological transformations enable us to gain a new perspective on the human being as a species. Around the world, designers and academics see themselves faced with the challenge of rethinking traditional research practices.
For this project, prominent international figures from various disciplines have been invited to discuss – in process-based formats such as public workshops, interventions, talks and lectures – which spaces of thought and praxis might be able to accommodate a form of design that is situated beyond the established Western binaries of culture and nature. In their critical confrontation with the collections of the Kunstgewerbemuseum, participants will develop concepts to inform for a speculative cabinet of curiosities that could also accommodate the previously neglected contributions of non-human actors.
A special project by the Kunstgewerbemuseum – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin
