the image of the “Tradwife” as a social media trend
The central theme of this performance is the resurgence of "classic" female role models. The "good housewife," the "tradwife," is back—not as a fringe phenomenon, but as a societal trend dominating social media, as evidenced by influencers like Nara Smith or the successful reality series Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
What lies behind this? Did this development truly emerge from nowhere? In this performance, I aim to analyze precisely these processes and make them artistically visible.
Based on the research findings, a solo performance will emerge that not only artistically explores this societal development but also considers how processes in general can be made visible. The performance's own creative process will be visualized through an installation of video recordings from rehearsals, serving as the stage set. Rehearsal and performance will thus merge seamlessly. The connecting element between these layers will be knitting—as a visible manifestation of a process and as a symbolic characteristic of traditional female roles.
