Sand Mandala Tour 2026

At the Samurai Museum Berlin, Buddhist monks from the northern Indian highlands of Ladakh in the Himalayas will create a traditional sand mandala for peace, live and in public at the museum.

Using thousands of the finest colored grains of sand, they will create an artistic mandala through hours of meticulous, intricate work. Visitors can watch the monks at work and witness the creation of this special work of art step by step. The mandala is dedicated to the Buddha of Compassion and symbolizes peace, compassion, and connectedness.

The tour will be led by Lama Konchok Samten, who will explain the significance of mandalas as well as fundamental concepts of Buddhism.
