Blending indie rock, country and brutally honest songwriting, Nick Carpenter – also known as Medium Build – has found a sound that consistently defies simple genre boundaries.

Yet it is above all his stories that stick in the mind: in a direct, self-deprecating and vulnerable manner, Carpenter sings of love and loneliness, identity and self-doubt – and of just how complicated it can be to find one’s way in life.
With his new album *King of Having Fun*, the American singer-songwriter is now opening a new chapter. Across 14 tracks, Carpenter reflects on friendship, freedom, dependence, fears, love and regret – and on the question of what it actually means to truly enjoy life.
