They are sisters, go to practice together four times a week, and take the field for league games on the weekends. Their goal seems clear: one day, they want to become professional soccer players.

But the older sister is beginning to have more and more doubts. Is soccer really everything in life? As she develops increasingly strong feelings for her coach, she suddenly finds herself in a game with entirely new rules. The younger sister also falls in love with a teammate, but hasn’t yet found the words to express her desire. At times fast-paced and precise, at others thoughtful and tentative, Marie Verse tells the story of two sisters who were always united by their passion—and are now drifting apart.

A novel about growing up, letting go, and the longing not to lose one’s footing entirely.

Marie Verse, whose play *Alias Anastasius*, co-written with Kay Matter, premiered at the Berliner Ensemble in 2023, will present her first novel at Werkraum.
