Maria BC + Eli Wewentxu & Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė

From the one-room recording process of the 2021 EP *Devil’s Rain*, to the unprocessed, wandering-through-an-apartment recordings of *Hyaline* in 2022, to a family friend’s house with an out-of-tune baby grand piano, where their Sacred Bones debut, *Spike Field*, was recorded.

*Hyaline* was a highlight of the ambient-folk genre in 2022. On it, Maria BC created eerie tracks that felt as though they were being transmitted directly from the heart of a mystical, cobweb-covered attic. *Spike Field* took this ethereal soundscape into increasingly polished realms and captures the sound of a voice that has rapidly gained in definition and expression. Strings, plucked guitars, and buzzing soundscapes accompany the classically trained mezzo-soprano voice, immersing the arrangements in a kaleidoscopic soundscape that is denser and more colorful than ever before.

*Marathon*, released in February 2026, is Maria BC’s third studio album and her second release on Sacred Bones. Born out of a sense of urgency, almost self-tormenting determination, and perseverance, *Marathon* reflects on what it means to keep going—whether in resistance or mere survival, one is in it for the long haul. On this album, Maria BC tackles themes such as resistance, environmental destruction, personal upheaval, and decay, all woven together with raw musical energy.

Eli Wewentxu & Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė

After meeting at Le Guess Who?, Eli and Indrė recorded their album *Después de llover*.

The album is a musical conversation between two people who have only recently met. They come from very different backgrounds, don’t speak the same language, and may have little in common—except for the resonance of their instruments. This encounter leads them to explore an imaginary world where they share sounds and create a place where they play with the moisture of plants growing in the water, listen to the pudus playing with the herons, rest on the floripondios, and perhaps stay there until the rain returns.

The Mapuche artist Eli Wewentxu lives in Chomio—Wallmapu. He began learning the violin at an early age and studied in various places throughout Latin America and Europe. Eli works in the fields of musical composition, audiovisual art, and the collection of sound archives from the region to which he belongs. In Wallmapu, he is involved in various artistic and educational projects that create spaces for reflection and emotional processing in the face of the current political and ecological crisis. In this context, he views listening as an everyday practice of dialogue with the living environment.

In 2024, he released his album and book *Narraciones de un Retorno* on the Other People label. In 2025, he presented it on a Latin American tour in collaboration with Nicolas Jaar. Today he lives in his community in Gülumapu, near the city of Temuco, where he also farms the land and cares for animals.

Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė is a kanklės player and singer from Lithuania who lives in Belgium. She frequently performs solo or as part of Merope—her long-standing collaboration with Belgian guitarist and electronic artist Bert Cools. Together, they weave together elements of folk, ambient, and electronic music. Her albums have been released on Stroom and granvat.

Indrė’s artistic collaborations include projects with artists such as Shahzad Ismaily, Eli Wewentxu, Jessika Kenney, Surya Botofasina, Laraaji, Gyða Valtýsdóttir, and Solo Cissokho.
