Wanted: Dead or Alive
An exciting evening with ‘Mörderische Schwestern’ – profound, abysmal, powerful: words and music. Eight crime writers present their stories, offering a thematic diversity that delves deep into the abyss of the human soul, violence and death, and ruthlessly illuminates the dark side of human existence. Yet however bleak the stories may be, in real life the Mörderische Schwestern e.V. have been championing the exact opposite for 30 years: solidarity, cohesion and a strong sense of community.

Ladies Crime Night mit den Mörderischen Schwestern
You are invited to the Lettrétage (Veteranenstraße 21, 10119 Berlin) on Thursday 29 October at 7.30 pm. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
The event will feature the authors Anne Bandel, Helene Baumann, Astrid Ann Jabusch, Maike Möller-Engemann, Swenja Karsten, Slavica Klimkowsky – who will also be hosting the event – Anja Marschall and Carolyn Srugies. Each will have a limited, short amount of time before a gunshot abruptly ends their reading. Then the next author will take the floor.
Jutta Wilbertz will provide musical accompaniment with improvisations and her own compositions.
Incidentally, Mörderische Schwestern e.V. is the largest European non-profit association of German-speaking crime writers, dedicated to promoting crime fiction written by women, and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026: this event is taking place as part of those celebrations. Around 750 women writers and women associated with crime fiction are members of ‘Mörderische Schwestern’, organised into 14 regional groups. They live and work in 19 countries: Japan, Austria, Switzerland, England, France, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland and Germany. In Brandenburg and Berlin, there are around 70 authors; they meet regularly on the 13th of every month at the Kreuzberg pub ‘Max und Moritz’.
