The night, the noise, the song

An evening between shadow and light. Between Berlin and Broadway. Between ballad, jazz, and tender disturbance.

Singer Melanie Schmidli and guitarist Martino Dessi, both known from the in-house production GEREIZTEITEN, and Dessi also from DIVA BERLIN, dedicate themselves uncompromisingly and uniquely to the work of Kurt Weill. A composer whose music has spoken of longing, resistance, and exile for almost a hundred years.

KURT is an intimate concert evening – with voice, guitar, and stories between Berlin, Paris, and Broadway. Dessi translates Weill's music into a sonic language of jazz and cinematic, ethereal sounds. Schmidli approaches the texts with a voice that sings, narrates, or contradicts – sometimes fragile, sometimes bizarre, but always direct. – A program for all those who seek stories in songs. And an echo in the silence.
