In a special portrait concert, longtime collaborators pay tribute to composer Stefan Streich on the occasion of his 65th birthday. For more than three decades, Streich has been a defining figure in Berlin’s contemporary music scene, both as a composer and as the artistic director of the Festival for New Music Klangwerkstatt Berlin.

The concert places his compositional work at center stage: music of remarkable focus and clarity that seeks the essential and makes the act of listening itself its subject. Far removed from effects and quick messages, Streich creates poetic sonic spaces in which perception, memory, and the present enter into dialogue. The program brings together works from the past 25 years, ranging from the string trio »Kontur Weg« and the duo »Gran Duo« to the large-scale ensemble works »Dunkelschwarz« and »Lerche, Spur und Geister«.

The evening is performed by ensemble mosaik, which has maintained a close artistic relationship with the composer for many years. In the unique atmosphere of Kühlhaus Berlin, the concert becomes a tribute to an artist whose uncompromising yet deeply human artistic vision has left a lasting mark on Berlin’s contemporary music landscape.
