The exhibition presents the first major retrospective of the artist’s books in a large-scale installation by Jonathan Meese, ranging from small booklets to large collage books.

The medium of the book plays a central role in Jonathan Meese’s oeuvre. He created his first artist’s books while still a student at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. His legendary performances then evolved from these readings.
Meese’s way of thinking and working produces an exuberant abundance of material, which he presents in the form of installations, as well as in books and booklets.

The exhibition is accompanied by the Annotated Catalogue Raisonné of Jonathan Meese’s Books 1993–2025.
