Art, Theft, and Restitution

How can the intertwined histories of colonialism and Nazism be conveyed – and what role do provenance research and restitution play in this?

This event will explore the intersections between colonial and Nazi history and demonstrate how provenance research can help to bring these intertwined memories to light.

Patrick Helber will report on the collaborative project ‘Interwoven Memories’ and his work at the Humboldt Forum, with a focus on multi-perspective educational work.

The discussion will focus on how provenance research and intertwined histories can be communicated. Finally, participants will look back on the four sessions and identify the key insights and methods for future educational practice.

  • Admission and participation are free of charge. Registration is recommended.

Funded as part of the federal programme “Demokratie leben!” by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
