Why Flamingo Why – swing, jazz and three-part harmonies
The swing trio Why Flamingo Why, formed in 2017, takes its audience on a musical journey from the swing music of the 1920s right up to the present day. The three singers, Stefanie Lockau, Susanne von Lonski and Mirjam Zimmerli, present their own arrangements not only of well-known jazz standards such as ‘Sentimental Journey’ and ‘L.O.V.E.’, but also lesser-known gems such as ‘Lazy River’ and ‘Lady with the Big Cigar’. Their voices shift playfully between solos and three-part jazz harmonies, or become the instruments of a jazz band. They are accompanied by pianist Christoph Wagner. An evening with Why Flamingo Why is an invitation to dream and enjoy.
