Since spring 2011, The Gregorian Voices have been touring throughout Europe. Under the artistic direction of Oleksiy Semenchuk, eight outstanding Ukrainian soloists bring the tradition of Gregorian chant to the stage with impressive skill.
Clothed in monks' robes, they create a mystical atmosphere and take the audience on a musical journey back to the Middle Ages – to a sound world beyond time, denomination, and language.
The diverse program combines Gregorian chants with Orthodox church music, as well as songs and madrigals from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Powerful voices and solo passages demonstrate how authentic and yet contemporary Gregorian chant can sound today.
In the second part of the concert, the Middle Ages and the modern world merge: Pop classics such as "Ameno" by ERA, "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban, "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, and "Sailing" by Rod Stewart are performed in impressive Gregorian chant arrangements.
Experience an evening where the Middle Ages meet the present – with captivating solo voices, moving choral singing, and a concert experience that will linger long after the final note.
