On the occasion of Qi Baishi's 160th birthday, the Center for Visual Arts Berlin is opening the exhibition "Great Aspirations - Qi Baishi's Artistic World" on September 8th at 5 p.m. The exhibition presents over 40 masterpieces of Chinese ink painting by Qi Baishi in cooperation with the Beijing Fine Art Academy.

Qi Baishi was and remains one of China's most prominent and respected artists. His extensive oeuvre of over 30,000 works of art has earned him the title of "Artist of the People" and makes him a highly esteemed master of art in China to this day.

His painting is free, natural and uninhibited. She embodies to the highest degree the essence of Far Eastern art, which can be described as "a world in a flower". His vivid depictions of nature capture both the tiniest of details and the vastness of the landscape. They testify to his curious and precise view of insects, flowers, animals and landscapes.

The works shown are reproductions.
