Anaïs Héraud & Ana Valeska Daase
This exchange generates friction, inspiration, and new perspectives, through which both artists continue to develop in their individual work as well as in their collaborative practice. Beginning without a fixed plan or composition, they allow themselves to be guided by the act of painting itself.
The process oscillates between tensions and their resolutions, between highs and lows, connections and separations. In this way, Héraud and Daase explore shifts in intersubjective dividing lines and the resonances of these movements within the image.
The exhibition title alludes to this practice of painting, in which being lost in the unexpected and the unplanned simultaneously signifies the discovery of painterly approaches and themes. The nonverbal negotiation on the canvas can, much like in a dream, produce images that elude conscious authorship.
