Conductor Jeannette Sorrell
1791 was a year of upheaval: While Mozart was working on his famous Requiem and facing his own death, political struggles for freedom and democracy were shaking the world—in France as well as across the Atlantic.
In this program, conductor Jeannette Sorrell combines Mozart’s unfinished Requiem with excerpts from four contemporary works by American composers.
Together, they engage in a dialogue about memory, cultural traditions, racism, and the ongoing struggle for freedom.
