QueerOriental Dancefloor

House of Halay for queers, lesbians, trans people, and gays.

1°° Live: Big Surprise Guest Show

People flock in a diverse crowd to the monthly belly dance beat event.

GAYHANE has long been known beyond the city limits and is already being replicated in many major cities.

For years, LGBT*I people and their friends have been gathering on the QueerOriental dance floor, where DJs Ipek, mikki_p, Aziza A, and Amr Hammer spin Turkish, Arabic, as well as Greek and Hebrew pop music.

In a blend of Eastern and Western sounds and temperaments, an atmospheric party quickly takes shape, its vibe enhanced by the imaginative transformation of the venue into an Oriental festival tent.

The dance-crazy revelry is interrupted at 1:00 a.m. by a midnight interlude. Before a special guest from the diverse lineup of artists takes the stage, there is first an important message to convey to the guests: namely, not only to enjoy a lively evening, but also to show solidarity with various political and social projects and groups together with the guests.

This integral part of GAYHANE’s party concept is an expression of solidarity practiced by the event team as well as the entire SO36 collective. When the Halay (Oriental circle dance) starts playing at the disco after the show, queers, straight people, lesbians, and pretty much everyone dance arm in arm, so that the atmosphere just keeps boiling over until the early morning.

Additional information

Accessibility

ACCOMPANYING PERSONS ARE GENERALLY ADMITTED FREE OF CHARGE!

You do not need to purchase a separate ticket; entry B on your self-service pass is sufficient.

Accessibility information for visitors:

The main entrance has three steps. Wheelchair users can enter through the side entrance. The highest threshold there is about 3 cm and, based on experience, can be easily navigated even by heavy electric wheelchairs. This entrance must be unlocked during events, which the staff at the door are happy to do. They ask for a little patience if the situation doesn’t allow for it at the moment, but you’ll usually be given priority. Inside SO36 itself, there are two small thresholds at the fire doors, about 1 cm high.

Unfortunately, the door to the smoking area is quite narrow and difficult for a large electric wheelchair to pass through. There is little room to turn around inside the room.

Wheelchair-accessible restroom:

There is a wheelchair-accessible restroom with a Euro key—or a key available from the door staff.

Beanbags

There are two beanbag chairs available upon request. Please let us know about a week in advance if you need one (by phone at 030/61401306 or via email at post@so36.de).

Concert attendance with a platform:

If you are attending a concert, you can also request a platform with a ramp. If at all possible, they will set it up in a location with a good view. Please let the office know about a week in advance (by phone at 030/61401306 or via email at post@so36.de).
