QueerOriental Dancefloor
People flock in colourful crowds to the monthly belly dance beat event.
GAYHANE has long been known beyond the city limits and is already being emulated in many large cities. For years, LGBT*I people and their friends have been meeting on the QueerOriental dance floor, where DJs Ipek, mikki_p, Aziza A and Amr Hammer play Turkish, Arabic, Greek and Hebrew pop music. A mixture of Eastern and Western sounds and temperaments quickly creates an atmospheric party, the flair of which is enhanced by the imaginative transformation of the venue into an oriental festival tent.
The dance-crazy hustle and bustle is interrupted at 1:00 a.m. by midnight peaks. Before a special guest from the programme of various artists takes to the stage, it is important to convey an important message to the guests: namely, that it is not just about enjoying a lively evening, but also about showing solidarity with a wide variety of political and social projects and groups.
This integral part of GAYHANE's party concept is seen as a practical expression of solidarity by the event team and the entire SO36 collective. When the Halay (Oriental circle dance) starts playing at the disco after the show, queers, straight people, lesbians and pretty much everyone else dance arm in arm, creating an atmosphere that just keeps on boiling... until the early hours of the morning...

Additional information
Accessibility
Accompanying persons have free entry.
There is no need to buy an extra ticket, just show your (B) certificate
Mobility restrictions for visitors:
The main entrance has three steps. Wheelchair users can enter via the side entrance. The highest threshold there is about 3cm and experience has shown that it can be easily mastered even by heavy e-wheelers. This entrance must be unlocked during events, which our colleagues at the door are happy to do. We ask for a little patience if the situation does not allow it, but as a rule you will be given priority.
In SO36 itself there are two small thresholds at the fire doors, about 1 cm high.
The door to the smoking area is unfortunately quite narrow and not easy for a large e-wheelchair to pass through. There is little room to turn around in the room itself.
Toilet:
There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet with an Euro-key, additionally the key is available at the counter or at the cash register/door. Beanbag Seats
We have two beanbag seats which are available on request. Please let the office know about a week in advance (by phone on 030/61401306 or by email to post@so36.de).Live concerts with a platform:
If you are going to a concert, you can also request a platform with a ramp. If it's somehow feasible, we'll set it up in a spot with a good view. Please let the office know about a week in advance (by phone on 030/61401306 or by email to post@so36.de).
