Water sports are political. Both professional sports photos and personal snapshots show just how much water sports have been shaped by political systems and societal ideals since their inception. How is this reflected in photography?

Participants will gain insights into the exhibition and explore the interplay between the medium of photography and the staging of water sports.

What aesthetic do postcards from the Imperial era possess? How did the Nazis use the medium of photography and the sport itself to spread their racist ideology about people and bodies? Can you tell from photos whether the photographer came from the East or the West?

  • For ages 15 and up
