Conference and Showcase for Figure Theater

“FIGURE IT OUT” rotates annually between Berlin, Leipzig, and Stuttgart and provides a platform for current developments in puppet theater.

The “Aesthetics of Access” edition in September 2026 will present productions that explore inclusive forms of expression through puppetry and objects and integrate accessibility into their aesthetics.

In addition to guest performances from France, the Czech Republic, and Berlin, “unsichtbar”—Schaubude Berlin’s new in-house production for blind, visually impaired, and sighted children ages 4 and up—will have its premiere. The performances will be accompanied by post-show discussions that offer deeper insight into the respective working methods. A symposium that provides a practical introduction to the aesthetic strategies and experiences of the participating artists rounds out the program.

The nearest parking spaces for people with disabilities are located in front of the swimming pool at Lilli-Hennoch-Straße 20; there are 4 parking spaces (distance: 500 meters).

On-site accessibility

The foyer is accessible without steps through two double-leaf, non-motorized doors (width: 150 cm), which are open for entry. The box office is located immediately to the right in the entrance area. The bar (counter height: 120 cm) is straight ahead.

Admission

Access to the auditorium is via a staircase with 6 steps and handrails on both sides.

For people with mobility impairments, ground-level access is available via the stage entrance. Please proceed to the theater lobby; staff members will escort you from there into the auditorium. Guide dogs are permitted.

Restrooms

Gender-neutral restrooms are located behind the red doors that open outward. Access is via two staircases with handrails on both sides, totaling 11 steps. The restroom facilities consist of an entryway with several sinks and restroom stalls branching off to the left and right.

Tactile Guidance and Audio Description

The performances “Ein Loch ist meistens rund” and “unsichtbar” feature integrated artistic audio description.

The workshop “Roots: Experiments with the Invisible” is aimed at blind, visually impaired, and sighted colleagues.

A pickup service is available for blind and visually impaired people from the nearest public transit stations.

Registration for the tactile tours and the pick-up service is required by 4:00 p.m. the day before the event. Registration takes place after purchasing a ticket via email to ticket@schaubude.berlin or by phone at 0049 30 4234314.
