„We own the Game“
In September 2026, Berlin will host the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, which will take place in Germany for the first time since 1998. The tournament will run from 4 to 13 September.
The sixteen best women's basketball teams in the world will compete at the Berlin Arena and the Max-Schmeling-Halle, including the host nation, Germany, as well as the United States, Australia, Belgium and Nigeria.
For the German women's national team, the tournament marks another chapter in their remarkable journey, which culminated in their qualification for the 2024 Olympics and their winning of the gold medals in 3x3 basketball. As well as offering sporting excitement, the home tournament promotes equality, visibility and the empowerment of women in international sport.
The German team's group matches are scheduled for 4, 5 and 7 September 2026, with the final weekend on 12 and 13 September.
Ticket sales will begin on 1 October 2025, initially offering two package deals for the final round. As well as granting access to the semi-finals and final, the final weekend ticket covers all twelve matches in the knockout round. Further sales phases with day- and team-specific offers are planned for autumn 2025 and spring 2026.
The event is one of a series of international cultural and sporting events in Berlin that promote social discourse on representation, diversity and participation, transcending the boundaries of sport.
