Fabio Luisi and Evgeny Kissin

As a 19-year-old, he was the last soloist to make his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Herbert von Karajan: Evgeny Kissin impressed even then with his outstanding musicality and technique; since then, he has become one of the greats in his field. He now performs one of Mozart’s most famous piano concertos.

Conductor Fabio Luisi also presents the monumental Second Symphony of Franz Schmidt, a contemporary of Mahler, who was rooted in the late Romantic musical tradition of Austria.

The evening opens with a lively sinfonia by Haydn student Marianna Martines.
