The Bride, a series of watercolors on black paper by Elisabeth Masé, depicts capricious "brides" in various, sometimes disturbing states and situations. The brides of this exhibition are fun, creative and aggressive. Triggering emotional uneasiness, The Bride opens a discourse on female (sexual) desire, unleashing artistic creativity and a breathtaking exploration of her own mental disorders.
Elisabeth Masé is an interdisciplinary artist. She writes fiction, poses her objects, creates communities and produces choreographies and artistic films.
This exhibition is the third in a series of MKM exhibitions entitled SOLO & FRIENDS. They devote themselves to a single work, accompanied by the entire current MKM artist ensemble.
Masé's The Bride is complemented by works by Walid Raad, Ali Kaaf, Taysir Batniji, Maryam Motallebzadeh, Chaza Charafeddine, Željka Mićanović Miljković, Ekin Su Koç, Emin Turan, Patricia Lambertus, Furkan Akhan, Razan Nassreddine, Alexander Polzin, and Chris Newman Raziye accompanies Kubat, Mohamad Al Roumi, Maliheh Afnan, Katharina Karrenberg, Joseph Sassoon Semah, Elza Javakhishvili, Eva Beierheimer & Miriam Laussegger, Antonia Baehr, Ana Sontag.
