Industrial Culture and Visions for the Future in Oberschöneweide
On this guided walking tour, you’ll learn how this historic industrial area has evolved from the former “Elektropolis” into a vibrant hub for science, manufacturing, culture, and the arts.
The tour begins at the Industriesalon with historical photographs and fascinating background information on the site’s development. The tour then proceeds past impressive factory facades that tell the story of the heyday of Berlin’s electrical industry.
Off the beaten path, you’ll gain special insights into hidden places like the former AEG cafeteria. Parts of the historic cable factory now house the modern campus of HTW Berlin and exemplify the neighborhood’s transformation.
The tour concludes at one of the most significant structures of Berlin’s industrial heritage: Peter Behrens’ monumental multi-story factory, originally designed for automobile production.
Note: Due to ongoing construction work, a tour of the Behrens Building is unfortunately not possible at this time.
