Insights, Reflections, and Related Resources

How can Nazi persecution, art looting and restitution be taught in school and non-school settings? As part of the project ‘Art, Looting and Restitution – Forgotten Life Stories’, pupils have worked alongside artists and relatives to develop different approaches to the life stories behind restituted works of art.

This has resulted in films and two workshop formats that open up new perspectives on the history of the artworks and the people behind them.

The event offers insights into the project process, presents the resulting films and workshops, and invites participants to reflect together on ways of teaching these topics in schools and museums.

Programme

Project insights and film screening: Presentation of the films produced as part of the project and an insight into the creative process.

Panel discussion: with pupils and project participants.

What has stuck with the pupils? What questions have they been thinking about? What should a museum tell us about the history of its artworks?

Presentation of the two new workshops: an introduction to the two workshop formats developed as part of the project, along with insights into methods and approaches.

Discussion and conclusion: How can the approaches developed be continued in schools and museums?

  • The event is aimed at teachers, multipliers and other interested parties. Prior online registration is required.
