Magda Mayas and Nicolas Collins
Magda Mayas and Nicolas Collins present new solo pieces as well as ensemble works that use piano, software-controlled trumpet synthesis and fingertip feedback.
These pieces demonstrate innovative approaches to "inside piano" playing techniques, with an emphasis on unusual tonal language. These range from the use of "talkie tape" - essentially a record on a thin strip of plastic, developed by Thomas Edison in 1918 for the world's first talking doll and updated by engineer Sukandar Kartadinata - to tiny string resonators , which allow each sound to electromagnetically resonate.
This program will also include a performance of David Behrman's 1965 composition "Wave Train" for piano with feedback resonators.
This project is made possible by the financial support of the Musikfonds e.V. with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
