A performative reading based on an idea by Nebojśa Marković Vonplon
“You go back now. Why did you decide to do this?" "I'm leaving so I can stay here. You stay so that I can hold you in my memory.” From the play “Road to Babylon” by Nebojša Marković Vonplon
As part of the project “Plural narratives of Roma artists - between persecution and resistance”, the team dealt with various realities of life, multi-layered perspectives and plural memories of Sinti*zze and Roma and discussed in literary terms how National Socialism influenced the experiences and has shaped and continues to shape life paths.
Using the power of language, they create a collective volume of stories that seeks to articulate the moving experiences of and for Sinti*zze and Roma*nja in society with a poetic authenticity and an access and identification space for Roma*nja and Roma*zze, such as also open to readers from the majority society, current and future generations
The event provides a performative and artistic insight into the creation of the short story collection “Reaching Through Time: Remembering a Future” - with a performative reading and subsequent conversation.
A project by the Rroma Æther Klub Theater in cooperation with RomaniPhen e.V and Kelipen e.V.
