Christmas Stories

On the fourth Sunday of Advent, actor Devid Striesow invites you to an atmospheric evening filled with contemplation, depth, and subtle humor. Together with the Leipzig Brass Soloists, the winner of the German Film Award and the Grimme Prize will get his audience in the Christmas spirit with selected texts from world literature.

Far removed from Christmas clichés, Striesow has compiled a personal selection of his favorite stories.

The range extends from touching memories to astute observations and subtle wit.

The program includes, among others, Peter Rosegger’s “When I Went to Fetch Christmas Joy,” James Krüss’s “Ladislaus and Annabella,” Martin Suter’s “Ignoring Christmas,” and Richard Brautigan’s “The Smallest Snowstorm Ever Recorded.”

The reading will be accompanied musically by the Leipzig Brass Soloists, an ensemble of musicians from the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. With their finely tuned ensemble playing, they create the perfect musical backdrop.
