In his elemental poem “Nach der Natur” (From Nature), the author W. G. Sebald explored the concept of a “silent catastrophe” affecting the ecology of natural and human communities, using compelling poetic imagery.

His 1988 literary work forms the backdrop against which two contemporary artistic approaches “after nature” are presented:

The etchings and drawings by the artist Christiane Löhr based on texts by Maria Luisa Spaziani and Oswald Egger, as well as the botanical yet artistic field research by herman de vries, particularly his first journal, *A Scottish Diary In Memory of the Scottish Forests*, from 1986.

The books and editions will be presented by Michael Lailach, Head of the Book Art Collection, together with the artist Christiane Löhr.

Admission is free.
