War and Peace: Choral Works by Weill, Eisler, Schoenberg, and others
At a time when peace seems a distant prospect for many people around the world, the Chorwerk Ruhr—one of Germany’s most prestigious chamber choirs—and the Belgian ensemble I Solisti present a program that powerfully evokes the 20th century’s lessons through music.
Under the baton of Yuval Weinberg, the designated chief conductor of the Berlin Radio Choir, vocal works by Hanns Eisler, Kurt Weill, Arnold Schoenberg, and others bring to the fore, through the harmony of many voices, not only the horrors of war and violence but also the hope for reconciliation. “War and Peace” is both a musical remembrance and an urgent appeal.
