The film *Aus der Sonne* (2025) marks the beginning of Anta Recke’s artistic exploration of Africanness. It was created as part of various projects on West African art films, Afro-European cultural practices and the colonial dynamics of European-African art production.

The film explores themes such as language, the loss of African languages and the global diaspora, and examines how art can make an impact in these areas. Together with the filmmaker Cem Kaya, Recke has developed a lecture-performance format in which the video works from *Aus der Sonne* are transposed into a performative context.
