Works for Violin and Piano by Brahms, Schulhoff, Castiglioni, and Enescu
With music ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to Salvatore Sciarrino and George Benjamin, Carolin Widmann has been delighting audiences at the Pierre Boulez Saal since her debut in 2017, the hall’s inaugural year.
Her duo program with Gabriele Carcano now focuses on works from the late 19th and 20th centuries. The program features compositions by George Enescu and Niccolò Castiglioni, which draw on popular musical traditions, as well as Erwin Schulhoff’s Solo Sonata, which captures the spirit of creative renewal of the 1920s. Brahms’ Second Violin Sonata opens the evening.
