The life of Princess Diana as seen through the very personal eyes of her younger brother. On 6 September 1997, Charles Spencer spoke at Westminster Abbey about his sister and her death – his words were heard around the world.

Almost 30 years later, he now looks back on his life with a woman who became a global icon, and on the tragic week that ended with her death.

As children, Charles and Diana – ‘Duch’ and ‘Carlos’ – were inseparable. They roamed the family estates together, spent their years at boarding school side by side, and experienced both the strict rules of their childhood and their parents’ divorce.

But everything changed when Diana married the Prince of Wales. His sister became one of the most famous women in the world.

Charles witnessed first-hand how Diana championed the causes of others, embraced her role as a mother and, at the same time, found herself increasingly in the public eye. Whilst the press hounded her relentlessly, her life became increasingly lonely. Her brother remained by her side – until that night in August 1997 that changed everything.
