Lecture by Dr. Ulrike Schmiegelt-Rietig, provenance researcher, SPSG

Antoine Pesne’s portrait is part of a series of eight portraits of Queen Elisabeth Christine’s ladies-in-waiting in the Garden Hall of Schönhausen Palace.

After being confiscated, stolen, and restored, the painting returned to its current location in the 20th century.

Provenance researcher Dr. Ulrike Schmiegelt-Rietig explains its eventful history and her work.
