Cíntia Rangel and K’boko (Fabiano Lima)
A myth tells of the Orixás, who created the baobab tree so large that it is visible from afar and can see far. Its hollow, mighty trunk stores not only water but also knowledge throughout its thousand-year lifespan.
When the baobab saw its reflection and asked why it was so different, the Orixás turned it upside down so that it would realize that it—like all trees—was special. That is why its branches resemble roots.
Thus, the baobab became the tree of life: a connection between past and future, a symbol of resilience, and a keeper of ancient wisdom. It is said that a hugged baobab can tell stories spanning millennia.
The dance performance "Baobab" is inspired by this story.
