Whether it’s the ‘flower thrower’ or the shredder stunt, Blanché analyses the background to these events with expertise and flair.
‘BANKSY. Street and Myth’ (2026) is a seminal work that, for the first time, comprehensively unpicks the singularity of Banksy’s work, which straddles the line between vandalism and high culture. The first art-historically grounded biography on the German-speaking market. An evening centred on the new unauthorised Banksy biography by Ulrich Blanché. The event will be moderated by KP Flügel.
Ulrich Blanché has been researching and teaching at the University of Heidelberg since 2012. He is regarded as one of the world’s leading researchers in the field of street art and, as an expert, is a sought-after media commentator for organisations including the BBC, The Guardian and ARD. At the Historisches Museum Saar, he curated a major exhibition on the history of urban art.
KP Flügel has been covering the phenomenon of graffiti and street art as a journalist since 2008. He is co-editor of the books *Bomb it, Miss.Tic* and *Free OZ*, as well as the author of the book *Eine Stadt wird bunt. Hamburg Graffiti History 1980–1999*, published in 2021. Since 2022, he has been responsible for club culture and street art projects at the Wissensart Foundation.
