Forays from 1900 to 1945

The tour explores the bohemian scene of the “Golden Twenties” in the so-called “New West.” It takes you to original locations, legendary literary haunts, and the homes and workplaces of authors.

From Winterfeldtplatz to Nollendorfplatz, actor E. Hoffmann guides you to 18 historic sites. The tour visits the former “Piscator Stage,” the “Nollendorf Casino,” and the “Beautiful Stranger of Nollendorfplatz.”

On site, Hoffmann recites prose, poetry, and essays by Alfred Kerr, Ernst Weiß, Hans Fallada, Paul Scheerbart, Ernst Toller, and many others. “Lemke’s Blessed Widow” by Erdmann Gräser transports guests to 19th-century Old Berlin.

Excerpts from Göbbels’ speech at the former Sportpalast serve as a reminder of the Nazi regime’s brutal claim to power. “Die Frau und der Sozialismus” by August Bebel will surprise you with its relevance today.

Discover forgotten places and listen to the echoes of a living past!
