The South African human rights activist Trauriq Jenkins speaks about five centuries of conquest and resistance in southern Africa.
Starting from the special presentation "The Struggle" on the free spaces in the city history exhibition "BerlinZeit", Tauriq Jenkins' lecture spans 500 years of history and resistance.
It begins with the Battle of the Salt River near present-day Cape Town, which prevented Portugal from founding a colony on March 1, 1510. The arc continues with the occupation and expropriation of the region by the Dutch East India Company in 1657. And it extends to the present day to the current fight against the expansion of the US trading giant Amazon into South Africa.
