On the eve of the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, the Girls’ Choir of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin and the men of the Berlin State and Cathedral Choir will pay tribute to his musical legacy.

The program ranges from traditional Franciscan and Poor Clare chants to Francis Poulenc’s “Quatre Petites Prières” and Benjamin Britten’s “Hymn to Saint Cecilia,” as well as choral works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

The concert also marks the 20th anniversary of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin Girls’ Choir. Together with the male voices of the Berlin State and Cathedral Choir—with whom they have a longstanding artistic collaboration—the two ensembles will present a festive a cappella concert.
