Guided tour with Jochen Hochsieder, restorer of murals and architectural paintwork
In 1769, Prince Heinrich commissioned the construction of the Muschelsaal based on a design by the architect Carl Gotthard Langhans the Elder. It is one of the earliest examples of Early Classicism architecture in the Berlin metropolitan area. Over the years, the Muschelsaal has undergone various alterations.

A comprehensive restoration carried out between 2015 and 2017 succeeded in restoring the Shell Hall to its original splendour.
Jochen Hochsieder, a restorer specialising in wall paintings and a long-standing contributor to the restoration work at Rheinsberg Palace, provides an insight into the architectural history of the Muschelsaal and the particular challenges posed by the restoration project.
