Inspired by the 19th-century writings of Henry David Thoreau, the work explores the themes of solitude, nature, and radical simplicity, contrasting urban life with the search for harmony with nature.
This reinterpreted version, originally composed in 1998, combines the distinctive sound of Ensemble Klang with the string players of the soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop, featuring special lighting design by Marc Thein and sound design by Micha de Kanter. Featuring unique instruments such as the steel cello and the daxophone, as well as nine lively, evocative movements, this powerful, one-hour piece offers a compelling and contemporary reflection on humanity’s relationship with nature.
